porch rockin’ punch #3.2

1 1/2 oz bourbon

3/4 oz cherry heering

3/4 oz lemon juice

3/4 oz simple syrup

7 drops vanilla extract*

mix over ice.

shake.  strain into a tall glass over fresh ice.

garnish with lemon wedge.

porch rockin’ punch #3 was a drink i developed a couple of years ago for the launch party for a catering company i half-owned, and involved cherry juice and a special vanilla brown sugar syrup i made for the party.  not having cherry juice or the vanilla brown, #3.2 is the version i made tonight for someone with whom it turned out i have some good and interesting friends in common.

* the vanilla we have at quoin is home-made, i think, and somewhat less strong than store-bought vanilla extract.  if you’re making this at home, i’d start with maybe half that and then adjust to taste.
