shipletts’ punch no. 1

1 1/2 oz gin

3/4 oz campari

1/2 oz st. germain

1/2 oz cynar

3/4 oz watermelon puree

3/4 oz lemon juice

combine all but cynar over ice.

shake.  strain into a tall glass over fresh ice.

sink cynar.

garnish with a cherry.

an impromptu creation for some good friends who came in for dinner last night.  him: if there ain’t pink in it, i ain’t drinkin’ it.  her: i like cynar (well, that’s what he said she would say; she was in the bathroom).  me:  try this.  him:  it’s a little sweet.  me:  maybe a little lemon juice?  him:  now it’s good.  me:  whew.

Sounds good – my summer favorite is Campari, Gin, splash of sweet lime juice (Rose’s will do) over lots of ice and filled to the top with soda water – lime flavored works too.

what do you think?
