rusty hammer

1 1/2 oz rye

1/2 oz fernet branca

1/2 oz canton ginger

1/2 oz st. germain

1/2 oz lemon juice

combine all over ice.  shake and strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.

not so much a bartender challenge as me trying to find a way to combine rye and fernet for a fellow who said he liked both.  the result was drinkable, though not the most wonderful thing i’ve ever concocted.  still, like its namesake, it gets the job done.
