birthday girl

1 1/2 oz vodka*

3/4 oz grapefruit juice

1/2 oz simple syrup

2 dashes peach bitters

combine all over ice.  shake and strain into chilled martini shell, shot glass, or into a chimney over fresh ice.

a classic crowd-pleaser that i’ve been making for years, one variation among many, of which the bittersweet romance is the prototype.  mostly its awesomeness has to do with the wonderful magic worked when peach meets grapefruit.  pretty sure no one i’ve ever made it for hasn’t loved it.

*you can also make this with peach vodka or peach schnapps (instead of the simple syrup), in which case the peach bitters can be omitted.
